I live on the Bogue Sound in NC and I can collect 100,000 ilyanssa obsoleta snails in a matter of hours, but everything I've read has said the same thing: Nearly every single one is a host for the swimmer itch fluke as they are a host. I know snails are only a temporary host as the flukes main prey is birds. I also have read that without the snails the flukes will die within 48 hours. I was just wondering if I could put them in a qt tank for however many days to starve out the flukes, or am I wrong?
I am not worried about the fact that they do not survive in reef temperatures because my triggerfish sure likes to eat snails.
Thanks
