Fallow process questions

So I’ll soon have my quarantine tank in order so I can take my fish out of my current display tank. 3 of my fish died from velvet and now my tank will run with no fish for a few months so the parasites can die off. Any tips would be helpful. Is it ok to leave my light on and try working on growing good algae in the mean time? Is running a skimmer going to be ok? Thanks.

Fish only.

If it was fish only you dont have to leave lights on. But I would still run your skimmer and ghost feed the tank to keep your bacterial colony fed
