Hi guys,
I have Cade 375 litre (95 gallon) and my fish have icy so treating them in tank to tank transfer method currently then to Qt tank.
question: my display tank is running rampant with excessive amphipods. Any suggestions??
I know they’re a good thing to have for your reef ecosystem but just don’t want them becoming even more populated over the coming months with fallow tank.

Hello, Welcome!
In regards to your issue, Not super sure. It would be easy if you could just add some kind of wrasse but since you are going fishless for a bit for ick Im not so sure. I dont think there are any inverts that will hunt amphipods, are there? Hopefully someone with more experiance could give you an answer.

Although, would it be that big of an issue for the population to exlode? I feel like their population will level out over time and once you add your fish back, its a all you can eat buffet! But I'm by no means experianced here so lets hear what everyone else might say...

Welcome!
The amphipods won’t be a problem. They will limit their population in accordance with food supply. Eventually the population will level out. If they are still present in large numbers when you are finished with your fallow period, you will have a bunch of nutritious snacks for your fish when they return.
In the meantime they won’t be causing any problem.

Completely agree! Everything's fine!

Welcome! Although amphipods are unsightly (but useful) they are quick food when you add fish in. For me, I’ve noticed they do tend to be nocturnal. I don’t see any during the day but at night see them scurrying about.

I’m seeing them 24/7!! They are unsightly, and hence why I’m bothered, lol. But good to hear they won’t cause too much trouble in a fallow tank for a few months.

No worries. People pay to get these in their tank.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!!! They will make a nice house warming gift when you add fish - hang in there!
