Can you tell I’ve been reading a lot of y’all’s posts and it brought a thought up that I can’t find a answer to. I’ve been doing so much qt work lately with the new tank. I need to say thank you for these awesome write ups as I’ve learned so much from them. I was never a long qt guy in the past, but I sure am now. I’m sure I’ve diverted something over the last few months even if I didn’t know it yet thanks to y’all’s information you share, but sometimes things still sneak by or steps have been missed and it brought this thought/question up after reading about the poly filter use pulling meds out.

So out of curiosity would the use of a UV Sterilizer shorten the fallow period?
For example you have a ich, velvet, etc outbreak, you remove your fish into QT and treat them, once the 30 day or so QT and treatment is done would your display be good as well?
Just hypothetically you have a 100 gallon tank with a 40 watt UV ghat is hooked into the return pump with 250 gph flow through it, would the spores, tomonts, trophonts, protomonts, theronts, etc be dead as well by 30 days?

Because the theronts are the issue in the life cycle and take a long time to release (up to 72 days) a UV is unlikely to remove any parasites that are not in their free swimming stage, unfortunately.

Thanks for the kind words, I am happy to help! :)
