Agreed. There is a lot with this article that remains unknown, but I am willing to bet this could have been easily prevented had the proper research been done. Typically the only time Paly's and zoa's will expel their toxins is when they are being attacked. I have several varieties of Paly's that I have seen snails, crabs, fish, and even sea stars crawl over or irritate to some degree or other and not once has there been an issue. I have also fragged out my Paly's and Zoas and have not had any issues.

The number one cause of situations like this is mis-handling the corals or boiling live rock. Either can and will cause all sorts of problems.

Yep, I agree and I know I'm making an assumption here. For all I know, he has plenty of experience in the hobby and just never ran into this topic before. However, lack of research or knowledge seems to be a trend for things going wrong in this hobby very often. I think that's what makes it so much fun and challenging. It's quite difficult to know absolutely everything, but there are some topics that you should absolutely be familiar with before diving into this hobby. The topic of palytoxins definitely being one of them.
