I need to fan cool my display tank, and considered the 6-Fan Aquatek Chillmaster. But looking at the specs, it only does about 45 CFM (That's only about 7 CFM per fan!)

I think, surely, that I could build something like this using better fans. I have to make it pretty, because it goes on my display.

Has anyone made anything like this?

Any recommendations for fans? I was hoping to achieve about 60 CFM, and I'd even consider using one fan alone, but fully expect to need more than that.

Thanks!

It's not pretty (because it wasn't seen), but here's what I had on my tank when I ran T5's

Made from scrap 1/2 plexiglass that I had. The fans came from old computers I had. The only thing I needed to buy were the stainless steal bolts and the electrical connecter to connect to the power supply that I also had in my scrap pile of stuff I had.

Here it is on the light fixture.

Christian in what configuration would you or do you want the fan ? Are you thinking as a cooling for the tank itself or for a light fixture or Sump/equipment ?

I have large and very quiet 200 mm fans on top of my canopy/LED array lid that have a potential of 110 cfm each. I also have a APEX ran 90 mm fan on back base of stand to blow air past my PanWorld return pump when system temp reaches 80*. Look at newegg.com for great options and pricing on fans and if noise is an issue at all do not go above 17-19 dba if not a big deal stay below 22-24. My 200 mm fans are only 19 dba at full power and I only run them at approx 50%, the 90 mm fan is only 12 or 13 dba.

I'm looking at cooling the tank itself. I have a rimless 100G Half Cylinder, with a hanging T5 fixture, which had upgraded fans I modded in.

I'm considering using two of these, angled slightly over the water, from the tank's back rim: SilenX EFX-08-15 Case Fan - Newegg.com

I have removable magnetic panels on my stand, so adding fans inside it is a no go. I like the Aquatek Chillmaster's form factor, but I just think the fans specs are terrible.
