So I added a T5 retrofit (2 48 inch blue plus) to the canopy of my tank to supplement 2 LED strips. I just measured the temperature at the end of the fixture and it reads 98.8. Ive seen on BRS that optimal temp of fixture should be 90-95 (which equates to bulb temp of around 105) for optimal bulb life. Just wondering if I should get a fan and if so, does anyone have any recommendations? Ive read some use cpu fans? Thanks.

I used this one for my smaller 24" canopy and its quiet and already has a 110v plug on it. I'd imagine one or two in yours should drop it into the range your looking for depending on the temperature you keep the house.
I plan on scewing this into my canopy, im assuming you have to leave a space between the canopy wood and the fan (you can't scew it flush to the wood?)

I used a hole saw and screwed it right to top of my canopy. So it could push air through it.

I've used those same fans for about a year and half. Very good units. Small, quiet, but provide enough air flow to keep a canopy cooled (or your T5 bulbs). I did have some where I saw where the bolts were rusting just from the saltwater humidity over time, so just be aware that that's always a possibility anytime saltwater is involved.

Can anyone post pics of how you installed the fan to the canopy? Couldnt find anything on youtube about this, thanks.
