Hows it going fellow reefers a buddy of mine just moved to the florida keys and started sending me some undersea oddities, so i was wondering could i make some extra $$$ off selling inverts out of my garage i already have a nice amount of netrite and turbos and he just sent me 24 emerald crabs and next week is going to send me some peppermint shrimp. So long story short is there a market for inverts?in my area i believe there would be a market for any saltwater livestock due to the fact that petco is infected and only good for dry goods and lfs is 45min ride(90min round trip) what would guys say a fair price on some inverts outta some guy you seen on the internets garage be? lol... any ideas,has anyone else done this? Im thinkg 10$ a pop on some healthy mithrax and pepermints and maybe like a buck on the snails would be fair $$$ or is this too steep?lfs charges 12..99 petco charges 8.99 1.50 to 2.00 on netrite and astrea

Is your friend in the Keys a Florida licensed wholesaler/collector? For that matter, are you a licensed seller in your state? ;Muted

I snorkel in the Keys 3 to 5 times a year and I usually do some collecting (I use the limited Florida Saltwater Fishing License rules). But the state of Florida has pretty strict laws about what you can collect and how much you can collect per day.

And what he collects is suppose to be for personal use, not for resale (unless he has the proper licenses and permits). BTW, it's my understanding that these kind of licenses and permits are rather expensive and hard to get.

Not all states require sales licenses. But yes, it's worth checking local regulations about setting up a small business. You may find they're less of an obstacle than the rumors you'll hear, but there are always some silly hoops to jump through.

Like that nickbingo guy and alot of cubans that **** sickens me ocean poaching... people can bag like 5 angels a day and some invasive lionfish and call it a day smh... this is why we need stiffer sanction and laws to protect the ocean im from pa and have lived inland my whole life but have traveled the world and seen atrocities against nature 1st hand working for the railroad peopletake and take and take and leave nothing behind accept destruction...no legacy

Look at all this off shore drilling all in protected areas in some in marine santuarires

He collects nothing and leaves it in the ocean where it belongs....everythings is either aquacultured in oceania(AU,NZ,Indo,malay bali) or captive bred

Its sad to watch the ocean degrade(microplastics,globalwaring,thermal pollution,pollution, and international waters are even worse its afree for all ,we shouldall do everything in our power to stop exploiting our beautiful blue planet and leave a legacy behind for the next generation to enjoy

So you say your friend just moved to the Keys, and is shipping you Caribbean inverts he buys from an Asian retailer who does not collect them from the ocean ??? Not judging, but seems fishy (haha).
Just curious for myself, if nothing is collected from the ocean, is all of this captive bred ? I get if he found a wholesaler who is selling to him, but seems improbable that none of it had been sourced by someone taking it from the ocean in such quantities at some point in time.

I just wanna know what you guys would charge...im just trying to save people locally from driving 90 mins and the heartache of petco contamination and give begginers inverts at a good price that are from a clean system... or waiting forsomething to come that isa maybe not a guarentee i also aquaculture my own lr i would never ocean poach.... so this being said what would you guys charge for inverts i just wanna know without anybody getting offended... i guarentee you im not a poacher nor do i associate with poachers im a vegan and plant a tree ever year on arbor day and adopt highways clean up garbage recycle etc etc... im the last person that would ever do what is inferd above by @CollectOyster04 nor would i ever be uninformed on livestock that i aquire ... all im asking is pricing thats why this is on the pricing forum not discussion.. ive never sold livestock out of my house before only coral so i am looking for advice not discouragement. Has anyone sold on fb marketplace or cl?

Yeah its a real nice store but its an hour and a half away my man thats why im doing this is to save people the drive and hassle of dealing with chains like petco or pet supplies or petsmart(alway have ciliate(aquatic parasites) dormant in system i figure if i offer inverts(which i have a few extra,i ended up building setups around) along with my corals that i already sell i can make a few people satisfied aswell as myself(blue dwarf,turbos,pepermint shrimp and mithrax crabs are all pretty easy to care for aswell as in demand
(Sometimes food)(i asked kate at my lfs in boardman,ohio what is her hottest selling livestock and she said corals, then inverts,then her clownfish
I just figured it would be something extra to do outta my gargage with a little free time and the holidays coming up as this is my passion and i wanna steer people in the right direction not detour them outta the hobby because they had bad luck with it before or shalllow pockets
