FarmerTy's 215-gallon SPS Tank

Went another 7 hours out today. Then on/off/on about a dozen times.
Smells bad, so far lost a Purple Pseudo, Flame Angle, Flame Hawk all I've had about 4 years. Seeing some recession now on a Mille. Learning a lot about how messed up TX power is.
I hadn't thought about a way to connect a smaller generator to our natural gas supply! Nice!
Hope all others are doing well. A coworker of mine south of Houston has been out of power and water for 48+ hours.

Keep doing what you can Todd to save what is left. I’m so sorry for the situation and your losses.

We’re coming up on 42 hours with no power and the water is just a small stream now.

How you holding up buddy?
I’m hanging in there my friend. I have power so I can’t complain and I had about 3 colonies and 1 frag die from the 17hr power shortage but everything else seems peachy. Thanks for asking. How are things in your neck of the woods? I see icy rain in your future?

Man, that’s terrible! Hopefully they crank it on tonight or in the morning!

The temp dropped so fast here after the our power outage my tank dropped from 79 to 71 in the 3 hours it took me to hook up my generator. I had to add another heater to get it back up to 78. Zero losses so far.

It's cold, but we have power. Generator is still on standby, but hoping we don't need it. Looks like a solid day of ice all day tomorrow, but we shall see... as you know the forecast is constantly changing.

Hang in there sir! Hopefully your power stays on!

I have been watching form across the pond and I wish everyone the very best, I understand the geography, how fragile can a State system be, hopefully the good to come out of this is that everyone gets backup systems installed. :)
I guess it also shows the importance of banking some important pieces with a friend.
I wish everyone that’s dealing with power issues the best!

Oooh nice! I want it! What size is that? And how big is your house?
It's an 11k and it powers the whole 3 bed, 1 bath house. Only real drain is when the house water pump kicks on.

The generator was a gift to my wife from our boss for 20 years. Cousin installed it and only cost us parts basically. He wouldn't take much for installing it. And yes he's a licensed electrician.

Gotta love it! That’s like the adult version of an awesome Christmas present that makes you jump up and down with joy!

We have power back. 55 hours without. Let’s see how long it lasts
praise the lord applause GIF

We've cycled so many times now I've lost track. The shortest has been 6 hours off I think and shortest on at 3 hours. My Cali Tort and a gold Millie from CB are both having RTN. So far others hanging in there. I can't get my water change water warm enough to do a WC. Discovered a plumbing leak from slab in our bedroom despite wrapping outside faucet and leaving in at a trickle.

Sorry to derail your threat Ty! SO glad you've kept power!!!

Keep updating us Todd. I hope things turn around for the better and the power stays on for good. I’m running supplemental actinic bar only to try to minimize my usage and lowered my thermostat to try to conserve where I can so that others can have power.

Thanks Ty. Tank just hit 77 degrees, been warming since 11:15 a.m. (power on since then) and cycling hot water bottles in/out a couple of times an hour. San Antonio just announced a boil drinking water alert. Fingers crossed yours stays on! You don't need another hit while corals are still weak from the outage you already had!

I’m in a better situation than most in the area so I’m thankful I lucked out with just 17hrs without power. I think we’ll probably get a boil water notice tomorrow and potentially lose our water. The water pressure was super low towards the end of the day today. I have about 35 gallons of reserve RO/DI water outside of the regular ATO reservoirs that are both filled about 3/4 of the way already. That should hold me over for about a week. I also have 100 gallons of saltwater already made so set there too.

It’s just sad to see all the locals updating that they lost their tanks. The road conditions made it all but impossible to go anywhere so we couldn’t hardly help each other either as a community.

Hope you fare well on your recovery and I’m glad you got power now!
