Hey bud! That is correct. Trident on main system and Alkatronic on backup system.

I honestly like the Alkatronic better but figured I should put the unit that monitors all three foundation elements on the tank that has the most money in stock out of the two.

I’m excited about the Mastertronic coming out soon. Adding Calcium and Magnesium as well as nutrients nitrates and phosphates.... it’s like being able to quit my day job and hire a robot to test instead.

I almost lean to Trident for you. You won’t be able to make your own reagent but knowing all three is helpful if you are going to be gone for extended periods of time. Yes, Ca usually tracks closely with Alk and Mg doesn’t usually waver much and can be dosed monthly but with an acro system, they all need to be in line or else bad things happen. I wouldn’t have known my Mg dips so much with kalk had it not been for the Trident monitoring it.

I am a little late to the party so I am sure you have answered this 1000 times. Just not in the last few weeks.

Are you heavy in / heavy out on fish waste? Approximate NO3 and PO4? Such great colors. Had to ask. For a friend of course.

Tell your friend yes to heavy in/heavy out... like my own dietary habits. Too far? Probably but I had to do it.

NO3 - 25ppm, PO4 - 0.08 ppm as of yesterday

Hey dude, my backup system got backed up and spilled water over the edge roasting an Apex EB832 and I also lost WiFi access to the Apex.

Good learning moment:

1) Be conscientious of where an overflow will occur and not put thousands of dollars of an equipment board right below it.
2) Good to have spares of all your important stuff. Luckily I had a spare Gyre Controller and spare EB832 Apex powerstrip. Yes.... I keep a spare powerstrip and no I’m not crazy.

Seriously, that sucks. I really need to get a backup EB832 maybe. I think I could make do without it for a few days, but once I gave in to automation, I'm a slave to it.
