So quick updates as I seem to talk less and less about my tanks and just become a gallery of pictures.

-Things are looking great after correcting my temp from it being so low.

-New Dastaco CaRX is doing a great job of keeping up with demand. Currently have it set on 3 out of 10 setting with kalk supplementing in ATO to keep pH high

-Qting more dither fish as I am wanting more movement in the display

-denitrator has been back online for the last 2 weeks.Yes I’m crazy but I feed so much that my nitrates have really started to take off and causing excessive algal growth. It really kicked some of my acros butts but so far the casualty rate is low. I’m going to push through and get past the initial start up to greener pastures on the other side... or I should say less green.

-planning to increase par on all tanks with averages in the 300-500 range.

-backup tank seems to finally hit its stride. I somewhat trust it now. Installed a CaRX on it to keep Ca and Alk stable with the help of the alkatronic

-added A lot of fish to the backup system and now finally holding some good nutrient levels.

Blah blah awesome pics, ... did the de nitrator not bite you in the butt last time around?
It did... but less so this time. I think it just didn’t tune it right the first time... probably dumped a bunch of hydrogen sulfide into the tank.

Awesome piece right there!

Just a note to anyone that wants to start up a denitrator....monitor your nitrite. The anaerobic bacteria that consumes nitrate converts that nitrate to nitrite!! Not saying that is the reason for your losses Ty, but I’d definitely put it high on the list.

Your idea on putting the effluent to a bucket for cycling is a great idea. Wish I would have done that in hindsight. Would avoid any issues with hydrogen sulfide or nitrite.

Why are you looking to increase PAR?

11 blue eyed cardinals and maybe some springeri/Talbots damsels. Nothing sexy but will add some good activity to the tank.
+1 on the cardinals...I love my blue eyed cardinals. Careful with the talbots. They will dig all your sand from under the rocks and are very territorial...they constantly chase all other fish that get near their burrow. With a big tank you can probably do a couple if they go to separate ends of the tank. I tried two in my current tank. Even though they did set up house at opposite ends the more aggressive of the two was constantly going and chasing the other.
