Fat mandarin

Are female mandarins normally this big in the belly? I've had her for 6ish months and there is no Male in the tank. Is she just fat and happy from the pods or can they carry eggs/spawn with no male?

I would say keep a close eye on her, bloating can sometimes be symptoms of either an infection or internal parasite. Or as said above she could just be a little piggie

mines looks the same way....a pig ever since it started eating pellets

I would treat for internal parasites.

Could be parasites or a fat and happy fish. Might sound strange but is her poop white and stringy?

No Male in the tank. She has been like this for maybe a week or so. I havent seen her using the bathroom so I do not know. I am deploying on sunday and will be gone for 3 weeks, i do not trust my wife to treat her or stay up with a treatment regimen so treating her is not possible.

Your mandarin is full of eggs. She looks like she swallow an egg. You should put a larger male in with her. You will enjoy seeing them spawn. I always try not to call anything female fat, but I think in this case I can call your's and mine fat and will not getting into trouble.
How big is your tank, and any food competitors? Get a pair. Here is my female on the day that she is about to spawn, and a picture of my male.
