Fatmike's Sexy 57 Rimless

hahaha ok you are right. im going to get some small cheap blue LEDs for under the tank to show off the neon green!

So found a small leak in the return plumbing I realized it was because I didnt cement that part together lol. I think I was going to be cutting it later. but oh well ill get it cemented tomorrow

Atleast you caught that leak now! lol. Going to be a sweet tank once you get it up and stocked!

ha I know im glad I did a practice run before I put it in its final spot where it wont really be easy to make these fixes but yep im retarded. I forgot to glue that joint because I was thinking I was goin to be cutting that pipe but I didnt have to. so its now glued and im going to let it set here for a little while and ill start it up again and see what we get

lights and bracket are getting here today! so ill put that on and ill be ready to get this thing in its final spot and get it going!

Sweeeeet. Can you smell the ocean air yet? Who makes that sump? or was it just from a custom acrylic place?

sent from my phone.

I got the sump and ATO reservoir from Atomic Reef here on R2R and I love it! Im going to get some cheap little blue LEDs and put them underneath to show off the green!

Would you normally run any filter socks, with your home grown custom piece in place?

you know I havent decided yet. im going to try it without one for now and then if needed ill throw one on. i hate filter socks though

I wouldn't do a sock. Maybe for the first week or so only to catch floating yuckies but after that take it off. At least that's what I would do. Socks catches the good stuff as well in a thriving reef. :-)

Scratch the last post .. I own a store now and I sell socks. So yes you need socks and you need to change it out every week or so. And dont forget t5 bulbs needs to be changed or every 4-5 months for optimum performance.

ehhhh im sick today this sucks. but I did manage to get the light brackets up. funny thing is when you buy light brackets you allsoo need to buy the suspension cables. ha shouldnt these things be wrapped up into one box? oh well so I ordered those and they should be here tomorrow. its awesome premium aquatics is so close. if I order before 3 o clock they get it here next day! so that is nice if I need anything quick.

now I need someone to help me move this bad boy. im going to let it run for the rest of the day and look for anymore leaks and see if I fixed the only leak that I saw. hopefully that is the case.

then ill drain it and move it!

That sump looks awesome!

Nice build Mike.

Thanks man! im getting close to the finish line!

Ya good point ill throw one on there for the first week and catch the nasty stuff from the sand and everything. I need to move the bulbs around.

the bulbs right now are from front to back Blue, Purple, Blue, Blue, White, Blue

im thinking Blue, Purple, Blue, White, Blue, Blue.

I just want to get that white more towards the middle

I would probably do Blue, Blue, Purple, White, Blue, Blue....... I think that would give you a little better balance in the tank because the purple and white give off the majority of the "whites" in color.

I was thinking the same thing after I posted that. I'll try it out and see how it looks!

Just an FYI observation and change I made in the last 6 months.

I'm getting the best growth Ive ever gotten on my SPS right now, and have currently been running a very "blue" look in my tank. I'm not saying it's all because of my lighting, because it's not. But I am happily surprised at the growth levels with a much bluer look. No washed out white or yellow. All my corals look really good.

I'm running 3 ATI Blue+ 2 ATI Coral+ 1 Geissmen Actinic+

plus a trulumen pro all blue LED strip.

Ok nice! That's for all the info! I think i be switching out the white for an aquablue.
