FatMike's Tideline 62g Lagoon AIO

Long over due update

tank is doing great. Kind of been on auto pilot which mean everything is working like it should!

just some small issues and I’ll do small updates below

1. dino build up on corals
2. Low temp
3. “low” but stable pH
4. Flow in tank

Added plenty of corals and more coming! Those shots coming too

So first, I was getting some build up of detritus on the rocks and corals

So I added the other MP40 back into the tank. At first this was too much but I was able to turn them down to find a very good flow for the tank. Corals are happy and detritus is gone!

I was also dealing with Dino’s all over the tank that I would blow off or brush off and it just kept coming back.

well while talking with my LFS I brought I up and they mentioned maybe low nutrients

I’m like yeah ok.. I over feed anyways… so not possible

they said just try feeding your corals a little more and not the fish.

so I did.

well they were right lol. Dinos are completely gone. Thanks LFS!

Right now I’m dealing with a water temp issue.

my apex is set to turn the heater on when it hits 77 degrees and then off at 78 degrees

but I’ve been thinking the water has felt cold but brushed it off

well I finally put my salinity tester in it and the temp reads 74 degrees

so trying to double check everything

“Low” pH

I put this in parentheses because what really is low? Lol

tank is great and running very consistent but I’ve been told multiple times it is too low.

it runs between 7.3 and 8.1

move wanted to dose kalkwasser and I believe that should bring it up anyways.

so we will see what happens with that

You’ll just have to go into Apex and recalibrate your temp probe to the temp of your salinity checker. Or purchase a good temp gauge and see what it gives you. I bought a bbq thermometer that is fairly accurate just for this. I had to replace one of my heater that have the calibration dial and I use it to tune it to the correct temp on both apex and heater.

unfortunately the hirusta is so fragile that the purple one got broken into a bunch of piece even though it was packed perfectly

but I saved the biggest piece and put it back on the plug.

then put all the other frag pieces on plugs! So they should all grow out
