I really love reading your posts Paul.I learn something new every time!
Thank you, maybe I should start to read some of them.

Paul, could you give us a little more information on you culture?

Yes, I am a white male born in Brooklyn New York, I have read the classics, Huck Fin, Tom Sawyer, Jurassic Park and I eat Dannon Yogurt at least once a day. Italian heritage. :dizzy:

I just ordered white worm culture and I would like to know how you have been successful with your culture for over a year. Maybe pics of your setup, frequency of feeding, etc. Thank you

There is a picture of the worms a few posts up, just imagine they are in a plastic shoe box with a cover on it with holes in it.
On the far left corner of my workbench you can see it covered in a black towel. The blackworms are in that tank with the trough on it. The whiteworms are very worried about their completion and do not like light of any kind so I keep them covered. If you don't, they crawl down and it is hard to collect them. They retract and hide immediately in light. I guess I would also if I looked like them.
About every 3 or 4 days I add maybe half a teaspoon of instant mashed potatoes which is a powder. I put it in one spot because the worms get all over it and I can lift out a clod of worms with out too much dirt. I then put them in some water and pour off the dirt. I rinse them a few times like that and put them in the tank with a baster. You have to keep them rather moist and I also spray the potato powder after I put it in. In the picture they are eating Matzo's, those were my Jewish worms, I ran out of matzos and now they get potatoes.

That's because I just built those new drawers and cabinets. It normally looks like this.

Now I got all this cool storage room.

Who stinks? It depends on what brand deodorant you put on them. My worms do not stink at all. They smell like potting soil with a hint of lotus blossoms. My wife is a cleaning fanatic so there can be no stink. I mean, we clean the light bulbs. No, really.
My house is so clean, surgeons come here to perform appendectomies on my kitchen table. The germs take off their shoes. Dust balls form outside because they are afraid to come in. Viruses wear surgical masks. That's how clean my house is, so there can be no stink.

Hey Paul!
awesome post. where did you order them from? On your feeder, I didnt see the tube used to funnel the bbs in. Do you pull the feeder or is the tube just not that easy to see?

There's a tube. I just filled it.

This is awesome!!! And what a great looking baby mandarin ;)

How did you make that feeder, and what is it made of, Paul?

I laughed way more than I should've. Always a treat to read your posts.

Your timing on this post is impecable. I just spent almost 22 bucks for a small bottle of red pods to feed my mandarin. I will order white worms tonight.

The info on the feeder is on here

Baldguy? Really? So am I.

Are you calling me funny looking? There is no room in this serious and austere hobby for humor :horn:

Send me $22.00 every week and I will send you a new mandarin.

I was told by a person once that God only made a few beautiful heads, the rest He covered up with hair!!!!
Thanks Paul on the info about keeping white worms and more importantly mandarins. Its good to know that the bb must be hatched every single day. Right now I don't think that fits my lifestyle with caring for my bed ridden mother in law.

I also have one of those.
