I just tested alkalinity, magnesium and calcium using salifert test kits. Alkalinity came at around 10, but calcium and magnesium came above saliferts chart, the instruction tell to use 1 ml and wait for the solution to change colors, but when I do it it takes more than 1 ml for the solution to change colors (both took about 1.5 ml). Can my calcium levels be above 500 and magnesium be above 1500? Or are my test kits faulty?

Make sure you are following the mix instructions perfectly. There are videos you can watch online. Also take a sample of tank water to your LFS so they can do a comparison test. Hope that helps

This is probably your best course of action. You have several possibilities: faulty test kit, faulty tester, or high levels. A test at the LFS could resolve this. Also take your test kit and do a rest in front of the LFS person. They will be able to confirm your procedure.
