Favia brain coral questions

so i bought a favia frag from my lfs it has two heads one of which is doing great the other not so well when i bought it about 1/6 of the skeleton on one head was showing at the edge i cant seem to get it to come back iv tried spot feeding with little to no results the other head is doing great it even extends its tenticles but not the other i need help also placement suggestions and flow as well n lastly iv read that it likes a little shade but iv also read to have it exposed to direct high output lighting please help

On thread that I read a while ago talked about how he would bring back a who bunch of LPS using this method (Yes, even scolys). What he would to do cut away the skeleton since many corals have a hard time growing back on their skeleton and then glue over the cut area. Apparently he has had much success using this. I personally don't though.
 
hmmmm intresting it cant hurt to try my only question with doing that its most of the head is still on the skeleton so do i just trim the skeleton down?
