I purchased this coral a few weeks ago. It was burgundy colored and bright green on the inside. I was told it was a Favia coral but as you can hopefully see by the picture it is browsing all along the outer part of the coral where it was burgundy colored before. Should I redip the coral, is there anything I can do to save it? I just did a water change yesterday about 10% to 15% and just checked parameters.
Salt. 1.025
PH 7.8
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate 20 ppm
Calcium 380
Alk 8
Mag 1050
Phosphate 1.0

Added Brightwell A and B 10ml Calcium and 5 ml Alk

Your nitrate is very high. What is causing such high nitrates? Over feeding? Fish death?
Another water change might be helpful along with less feeding.
Your tank looks pretty new. You need to get your parameters in line and keep them stable for a while. Favias do quite well in stable tanks.
Your calcium and mag are low, but I see you are working on that.

My tank is 9 mo. old and yes Nitrates are high not sure why, no fish deaths that I know of and have been trying to feed less. I just added De-Nitrate to my filter system.

I would recommend a non-chemical means of reducing nitrate. Water changes, adding a refugium, increase your bacterial diversity, add more live rock, change filter media more often.

Any livestock like bicolor blenny? Doesn't necessarily look like it's being nipped at but could be something. Lower nitrates w/skimmer. Phosphates a bit higher but not at emergency level. Browning could be from the elevated nutrients. Favites/etc also enjoy occasional feeding.

Thank you. I did have a coral beauty that had gotten to big for the tank which I saw nipping a couple of times, I returned her to my pet store over the weekend. I do have a skimmer. Is there anything you can advised to lower phosphate?

Phosguard/phosbond. refugium
