I have a 4 polyp dragon soul Favia frag and I was wondering how I could place this so it grows in a dome shape. The skeleton is really thick and I have seen some really good tissue growth so far. It was a newly cut frag when I got it 2 weeks ago and now tissue is about a 1/3 of the way down the 3/4” sides. It’s just on my sand bed for now lookin healthy.

Thanks, John

I'm not sure if you can really control the shape that a coral grows in, that being said, most favia/favites frags I have had will grow in a dome shape initially as they try to spread out from their current area but after that it's anybody's guess which direction the coral goes.

I would just put it on a roundish rock and let it go. Long enough it will probably encrust around it. I think even if the rock had crevices the coral would still encrust over it flat.
