Below is my favia. (The one in the middle, not the candy cane on the right). It's quite shaded because it's in a hard to reach place (I have a hood) and I didn't quite get it where I had intended when I super glued it. It's pretty high up, but clearly shaded by the rock?

Favia aren't high light I think. Is that fine placement? What to I look for to know if I need to move it?

If it is close to the front glass and your lights are strong enough it might be ok. Personally, I'd move it as it doesn't seem quite happy where it is at. How long has it been in situ?

What do you see that "doesn't seem quite happy"? It was in QT for 45 days and has been in the DT in that position for two weeks now. It's always looked the same to me.

I have a second, larger favia of a different species lower down that's also not it direct light, but not directly under a rock either. It does seem to swell a bit and extends distinct tentacles. Maybe that's "normal", but even that one changes shape only slightly. Favia are a lower light, lower flow coral, correct?

It appears to be underinflated. Perhaps it's the photo, perhaps it the particular species. They are a "relatively" low light and flow coral, yes. If you think that's a good spot then good on ya. You asked for input, I recommend a bit more light. Do or don't, up to you. Best of luck.

underinflated, got it, thanks. That's what I needed to know. I'll move it and perhaps post pictures in a week if it changes.

Now where to put it? I plan on cranking my lights up slowly as I get more high light. Corals, so just to the right out of they shade may give it an LED burn in a few months from now.
