I bought this favite from WWC. It was great for the first few days. Then I noticed that one of the polyps had worn away. Now it appears that the skeleton is visible in that area. The attached pic is from 2 days ago, and the spot has gotten slightly bigger. I've also found a couple of rogue snails in my tank that I never added. They are very small (maybe nassarius?). They probably came on that coral. I also found a small brittle star that lives between the favite and the plug. Is it possible that these inverts are doing damage to the favite? I removed all of the snails, but I'm sure there could be more that I've simply not seen yet. Any advice/help would be much appreciated. I just did a water change yesterday. I circled the "wound" in yellow. Thank you.

I would dip it in some iodine or other coral dip if you have it.

Only way inverts mess with anything is if there's is already death. What are your parameters? Tank looks new.

Looks like a newer tank. First, I would also iodine dip. Just to give it a boost. Then, make sure you have nitrates of 5-20. LPS like favia/favites like it. Also, low flow and lower light. It should heal. Those guys heal nicely under good conditions.

I have brought some from one polyp to hundrends, leaving alone and getting correct conditions. Make sure you are feeding it couple times a week with phyto or other plankton. Nighttime feeds.
