I know everyone has a piece of inexpensive equipment that turned out to be a dud, but I would love to hear about your success stories. What are your favorite reef-related aliexpress or ebay purchases?
For me, I've been really happy with buying horizontal float switches off of ebay. They were about a buck a piece and using my Apex breakout box, I've set notifications for when I need to refill my ATO, Kalk, 2 part and used a normal float switch to turn off my skimmer if it's about to overflow. I use the tunze's optical sensor for topping off the tank, but in terms of alerting me to non-critical tank maintenance, a few bucks has really paid dividends.
