Okay so I am currently building a Reefer 750. Waiting on some plumbing parts to come in,but while I wait I was gonna ask what is your favorite thing or one thing you think you need to have to run a successful reef aquarium. Nothing major I’m talking little odds and end items.

The big things.....Radion lights, wave maker pumps, a bubble magus doser (mp40, Tunze stream, Icecap 1k gyre), and a Tunze ATO.

Little things? Hanna checkers and nori clips maybe. I’m trying to think of what my daily/weekly routine would be like without them.

Auto dosers and ato and just anything that automates your aquarium. It’s not necessary but will help in the long run keep a stable system. I also would note auto water changers are super nice and make sure you never skip a change. I personally run a jeabo dp2 one head going in one going out. It is set on a continuous change of 10g a week. I did it for super cheap and it cuts the time I spend on maintenance in half. That is my number one extra equipment.

Depended on your coral choices, a doser is a must. I've never used one before, I always just manually hand pumped into a cup and dosed every morning and every evening. But then I picked up a DOS unit to go with my new Apex.....What a night and day difference! I will admit it was weird at first not having to wake up and dose the tank or come home from work and dump my 2 part in. The pumps did it for me all throughout the day! It's definitely a load off my mind trying to not forget to dose the tank and cause an alk or calcium level dip. So dosing pumps would be my first suggestion. Another good one would be a hard bristle toothbrush, great for scrubbing pumps or corners of tanks where you don't want to scrape up or wreck the silicone :) An auto top off is also a must.

I use a turkey baster twice a day. Measuring cups and bowls are really helpful. Kalwasser is really cheap and great for mixing into a paste and treating pests.

A super cheap powerhead and back up heater for mining water also removes some headaches. Tweezers, bone cutters, scissors, polyacrilimide gel super glue from the dollar store.

I am sure there are more useful odds and ends, but everything I listed will cost like 50-100 bucks and be super helpful.

Also a little more expensive but the hanna alk checker is a game changer

Ok these are mine

Tunze Osmolator
Flipper Max glass cleaner
Apex for monitoring and piece of mind
Kamoer doser for auto dosing

All the above make running a reef tank much easier and once it’s matured you can just watch it........

On a sub-component level, the ATO would probably be my favorite item. Overall, I appreciate the controller the most though; huge time saver.

When it hits the shelves the Apex Trident.

@EHaddad I would have to say a Solid sump since its the heart of your filtration. I placed my order with Synergy about 2 weeks ago for there CL-44 sump and a 10-gallon matching ATO reservoir.
My sump will look like the picture below but I will not have the middle baffle for that refuge, since I will be running a Turbo Algae Scrubber.
