I'm planning a Reefer 170 (35 gal display; 45 gal total).

I figure I can fit 4-5 fish in there. Right now I'm definitely getting two clowns but I'd liker to hear what y'alls favorite fishes are for a 35g mixed reef!

Cherub angelfish, blue chromes, McCoskers flasher wrasse, and the Helfrichi firefish

I’ve had all these in my 34 gallon at separate times.

what the heck that wrasse is gorgeous. Was it happy in the 35g? Live aquaria gives it a minimum of 55

Bump for the day crew since I posted in the middle of the night

Here are some choices to check out: Banggai cardinal, starry blenny, flame hawkfish, wrasse (there are so many kinds), royal gramma, diamond goby

I *really* want a mccosker’s wrasse or a yellow coris wrasse

sure was, if you decide to get one you NEED a lid on the tank. I had one jump out on me at night. Found it 10 feet away from the tank. I made a mesh lid from the kit sold on BRS

I would not put those wrasses or any dwarf angel in a 35. Even a 40 breeder is a stretch IMO. Short term would be fine but I don't think so long term and by then you're attached and the hassle of removing them..

How about this:
Orange Spot Blenny (Istiblennius chrysospilos)
Randall's Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus randalli)
Randall's Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli)
Ocellaris Clownfish Pair (Amphiprion ocellaris) Or maybe a Starcki Damsel (Chrysiptera starcki) instead?

Watchman/pistol, tailspot, clownfish pair.
I like this one for a 35 too.

+1 for the flasher! My tank's just a bit longer and my blue flasher seems very happy. He doesn't zoom around the tank when flashing though, just circles his target (the coral beauty), which probably helps a lot. Note: he has never tried to dart around either, so it's not that he's limited and therefore just doesn't do it. Very curious little fish, flashes at me when I'm feeding or doing maintance, but watches from a safe distant when he sees something unfamiliar (nori sheets)
