Been running my gyre for a couple months now and really like it. i like all the different modes and customization qualities of the unit/. i am just wondering what modes you all like? Do you run it on 1 of the two 24hr cycles they created. run your own 24hr cycle? run just 1 mode? what do you do and what do you like about it? also what type of tank I.E. mixed, sps only or Lps only, softies?

I have the 130's with the older controller and run the on pulse.

I run a 130 and a 230 with the new controller set to Lunar Tidal Cycle.

I tried Alternating Gyre, then the Lunar Tidal Cycle. But what I've been most pleased with is what I'm running now, which I adapted from the World Wide Corals "Flow Basics" document and then created a manual schedule for the Gyres. It was originally designed for MP40's and 60's. I substituted the Gyre "Random" flow mode for "Reefcrest" in the chart. I like the water movement in the tank much better now.

I figured if it works for them... ;)

I've got a 150 and a 250, new controller.

Couldn't get the OGC or LTC to work the way they're supposed to, so set them both to alternating, but with slightly different timings - one pump's cycle runs just a little bit longer than the other's. Over the course of a few hours, the places and ways that the two currents meet and crash up against one another change, bringing different sorts of flow to various parts of the tank, and vortices swirling off of the surface. Every couple of hours or so, one of those vortices dances over to the left-hand return and gets caught in that current, sending a swirl of silvery bubbles through that part of the tank. It's kind of like ... "Surf's up, dude!"

I guess you're referring to the Maxspects here. I have two 250's but haven't set them up yet on my 180. I do have an Icecap Gyre for my 93 cube that is great. I use constant mode but created a 24 hr cycle that ramps up from 30% to 60%, then back down, and 20% overnight. 60% seems to be my debris clearing setting in a cube, so it only runs at that for 2 hrs of the day and after I feed I hit "manual mode" (which is set at 60%) to stir up anything that hit the floor.

I have a XF-130 with a new advanced controller. I have both "A" impellers running on random, 24/7.

I tried OGC, but my tank is too small for the minimum of 30% power. I'm currently on 20% max with the random.
