Hi everyone,

My LFS doesn't have that many colorful options for LPS and I was looking at online options. Has anyone used Unique Corals, Legendary Corals, World Wide Corals, or something else? I don't want to settle for some blah patterns.

Thanks!

Hi! For Rock Flower Nems, I really like Aquatic Arsenal, great price but they are packs and not wysiwyg.

I’ve got some good pieces from Jason Fox but all of his pics are over saturated so it’s a little disappointing when you drop those frags into your tank (even if you only run blues) and they just aren’t the same color as the website.

WWC seems to have fairly accurate pics, but you pay an unnecessary premium by ordering from them. Think of them as reefing Gucci

Galactic Corals are really great for anemones online, I’m lucky to live 10 mins from their brick and mortar and they always have really healthy stuff.

Some other places that I’ve heard good things about but haven’t pulled the trigger on are Cherry Corals, BattleCorals, Pacific East Aquaculture (known for clams), vivid aquariums, and unique corals.

My favorite method is local reefers/other hobbyists. I get better deals, bigger frags, and healthier corals a lot of the time. Especially if they only frag as maintenance pruning and not as a main source of income. Frags from those types of people are always generously sized, very nicely priced, and very healthy. Please do your research on a seller before you buy from them, especially on places like R2R where anybody can sell but so far I’ve had all good experiences with hobbyists. I hope this helps you! Good luck on your coral hunt!

Edit: sorry just reread your original post, sorry for the unnecessary additions about nems! Galactic always has very nice acans and euphyllia in store, might be worth a call to see if they’d help you out and email you some pics with prices. :)

Liveaquaria has the best guarantee (14 day no questions asked), but they are a little more expensive and have more mainstream stuff.

Unique Corals has cool stuff and they are nice people, never had an issue with them.

Lots of LFS have an online presence and you can find rare one-off pieces if you look.

eBay has rare stuff reasonably priced, especially auctions, but free shipping is rare, the guarantees are rare and sometimes the colors are exaggerated. So more risky.

If you can find your local reef club’s forums, that’s probably the cheapest way to get nice stuff (assuming you are in a decenly populated area)
