Love love love this fish!

As an alternative to a fish if you're looking for really super red, this cleaner shrimp is about as red as get! (The Wheeler's goby below her has reddish stripes and speckles, too)

Lysmata debellius is a stunning shrimp in general!
I have Atleast 5 shrimp if not 6 and of the six, in order of how red they are;
1. L. debellius- Blood/Fire Shrimp
2. A. randalli- Randall’s/Candycane Pistol Shrimp
3. L. amboinensis- Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
4. L. wurdemanni- Peppermint Shrimp
5. S. scuttelatus- Golden Dwarf Boxer Shrimp
6. A. bellulus- Tiger Pistol Shrimp

Hobestly, inverts are the best creatures to get colour from.

Yasha’s are my favourite goby. Definitely agre with this, my yasha is paired with a pistol currently (although I rarely see either nowadays). My original one, I saw constantly and he was so personable.

Reef safe is always fun because it is reef safe, but I have to keep it full or else it’s not always all fish safe.

Red cardinal is a nice option as well!

They are nocturnal hunters, and as such can be cryptic and stay within the rockwork during the day. Mine only ventures out to grab food and then quickly retreats back under cover. They can also be ornery, and if you have any smaller fish in the system (i.e. ones that it can chomp down on), it will eat them.

You may consider a pair of Madagascar Spotted Crouching Gobies. Interesting fish with a lot of personality. On the small size, but since they are in the scorpion fish family, nothing will eat them. Photo courtesy of Liveaquaria:

I recently had to give away my flame hawk because I moved him from my 32 gallon to my 180 gallon reef (the 180 has no lid) and I never had any problems with the flame hawk trying to jump but the day after I put him in he was swimming at the surface waiting to be feed, after 3 days went by I was feeding him some squid when he jumped right into my hands! That’s when I decided to give him away because it would break my heart to see him dried up on the floor. I am thinking about getting a custom lid and buying a Tahitian gold flame hawk fish because he won’t bother my tangs and won’t be able to jump out!

I would not call my flame angel a red fish but when I think red I think RED like the flame hawk.


There are shrimp gobies with red on them like the yasha or wheelers

My Falco hawk is a menace. Moved to a more aggressive tank and didn't even wince. Now I can get shrimp and crabs again, now.

Shrimp! Blood/fire shrimp, skunk cleaner or coral banded. They are all very red
