$30 Red lined

Love my red line. They say semi reef compatible but have never harmed a coral or a shrimp for that matter. Keep em well fed.

can multiple melanarus wrasse be kept together?

Just got a solar fairy wrasse. $50.

Yet another vote for melanarus wrasse. Easy to come by. Hearty. Attractive. Tough enough to not get picked on but not overly aggressive. Get to a pretty decent size in terminal phase. And yes they’ll go to town on bugs and worms all day and night.

It’s true, they will go after some CUC. Mine took out all my hermits, nassarius, snails, most the stomatella snails, and most the amphipods. This has just kind of opened my eyes to how little those critters actually do though. They mostly just eat biofilm. I don’t worry about left over food. Between my tangs and foxface any food that hits the sand is quickly found and eaten. You want something for algae control, get an urchin. Snails are fairly useless for that. I have a dozen peppermint shrimp on order though....I will however be furious if my melanarus and sixline decide to dine on them all
Had to get rid of a six line, he would eat my shrimp as fast as possible, took out two fire, six peppermint in almost no time

I had a McCoskers wrasse that I loved, he had a psychedelic dorsal fin.. I then bought a Melanuras , because I had a flatworm problem, all over my corals. Someone told me to get a Melanuras, he wiped them out in 2 weeks and I haven’t seen one since.

Definitely getting one of these, along with the mccoskers wrasse

I had one of these but he unfortunately started taking out my snails and hermits all the time so he went into the FLOWR. They are very underrated and pretty though.
Unfortunately all of your reef safe and non reef safe wrasses will eliminate all your snails and crabs eventually. You just have to get use to replacing them every 2 or so months. I keep several reef safe wrasses in my 150 mixed reef and even the littlest possum wrasse of 12 years will flip a snail and have it as a snack

I have a pair of flames, lubbock, melanarus, solar, pintail, cleaner, pink tail, elegance, and ornate wrasses.

This is my Lubbock's, multicolor, Lubbocki... wrasse. I don't have a better picture in the display. I'd look into the fairy or flasher wrasse. Lots of pretty colors. I know my next tank upgrade is going to be full of wrasse.

I would strongly advise against multiple melanurus wrasses in a tank. As they mature they will get increasingly aggressive with one another.

The flasher, fairy, possum, and pink streak groups are completely reef safe and will NOT eat snails and crabs.

McCosker’s wrasse. Great personality. Swimming at all levels. Always out. Does not bother any of the CUC.

Six Lines and Haw 4 - lines, Opossum, Cleaner, Carpenter's, all Leopards, Yellow chrysurus, Yellow-tail Tamarin... These are $50 and under; mostly. There are many more, but you said $50 and under.

Love my Melanarus. He is my first ever wrasse and has been nothing but a model citizen. I picked him up for 38 bucks! I do not have a pic.

I have a wrase in the sump because my 6 line is a $#!+ , I would love one of these, what gets along with a 6-line other than a torpedo?
