Favorite Wrasses

I will be the only person that says this..... Six line Wrasse. The work horse of the Wrasse family. Underrated, unappreciated, falsely accused (sometimes)....

I’ve had one for three years. He was the first fish I ever bought. Sweet as can be. He doesn’t even bother my tiny bumblebee shrimp. His name is Linus.... incredible fish!
I must say your lucky. He must appreciate the life you gave him. I've had a few over the years bc they truly are work horses. But man they are suck ******s lol

Ha! I hope he appreciates me. Currently he lives with a pair of Clarkii clowns, a yellow tang, tiny Tomini tang, three blue chromis, a lemon damsel, a cherub angelfish, purple Firefish, sunrise dottyback, and a yellow Watchman Goby. There’s a Naoko Fairy Wrasse in my overflow but they got along well. I purchase bottles of pods for him very three weeks or so. He’s fat as can be and quite beautiful. His name is Linus.... I love him!

Let me add.... all my fish get along beautifully. The only exception is when someone gets too close to the clownfish nest. But the clowns run them off and return to their growing babies. I must have the best mix of stuff. Despite all, everyone is peaceful and happy.

Ok, so I cannot decide between Carpenters and Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse.
I swear they are both so beautiful.
Can I keep all of these?
1. Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse
2. Carpenters Flasher Wrasse
3. Leopard Wrasse*
4. Melanarnus Wrasse
5. Dusky Wrasse
6. Harlequin Tusk*
This is really hard to decide. :(
Feedback on these?
* = I would like to keep these

You won’t be, because I love my six line! His name is Bruce, he’s terribly difficult to get a good picture of and sleeps inside my rock. But not aggressive at all (even got punked by my lawnmower blenny once). He lives comfortably in a 28g with 2 clowns, a blue damsel, and a blenny. Doesn’t bother anyone or anything.

Dusky and harlequin are gonna be problems.

How big is the tank anyway?

And when I say problems, i mean the harlequin will probably eat your coral, and the dusky from what i hear are very hard to keep. They dissapear and never come back lol.

I plan on a 180 Reef.
Nice size tank... hey take the shot with the HQ, get him last though. And I'd get an ausi one they are more vibrant. I like the rest of your list though. Check out the exquisite and radiant wrasses too. They're very pretty fish. And the radiant will eat pests

I love these three fish. Two additional wrasses that I am really drawn to are the yellow coris and the mystery.
That leopard is beautiful. When I eventually upgrade I want a chaoti wrasse. I think my tank has too many already but I'm a wrasse addict. Lol

There is a great article here by @evolved (the ultimate Wrasse addict) where he discusses the various species of wrasses, and actually has a great one-page tool for seeing which wrasses go together best (I think that is a seperate article called "pairing wrasses."

Well worth the reading!

Ok thanks, this should work?
Reef:
Ok so for FOWLR only Wrasses HQ and Mealanarus should be fine?
Also for Reef: Ruby Longfin Fairy Wrasse / Carpenters Flasher Wrasse / Leopard Wrasse
The thing is will I have to pick one from the Ruby and Carpenters since they are different types or no?
Edit: I forgot to say I like the Exquisite Wrasse.

Thank you! I will have to check that out.

I loved my Mystery Wrasse but boy was he a pain in the butt and killed all my shrimp and crabs. Now I have a Pintail fairy wrasse, and he is probably the most peaceful wrasse I have ever had, has similar in your face personality to the Mystery Wrasse without the aggressive nature or invert killing tendencies

My faves are:

Rhomboid
Lineautus
Flame
Diamond tail (McCoskers also looks fairly similiar)
Pintail
Eightline
Ruby head (some might think the color is too muted - I think the gradual coloration from blue to purple/red/orange is subtle but stunning. However, there is quite a lot of coloration variation within the species).

I think youd be ok with both if you got them at the same time.
