Favourite tank heights?

As the title says, what is your favourite tank height, I’ve been looking into this as I think 18 inch tall is too short due to the fish just wiping with eachother and the space looking like there’s no such thing as the top water column and the bottom (“The sea floor”). 12 inch sounds so nice for a tank that has more bottom dwellers or you want to centre it around the coral/inverts instead of the fish. Also if you have that “perfect” height on your tank, I’d love to see photos! And reasons as to why you like it.

Depends on the other dims doesn’t it? I like 22-24 for larger tanks, but that’s silly in nanos. My little 16g is 14” but I wouldn’t mind it being 12” however the big tank is 24” and anything taller makes reaching the bottom impossible without tools/steps.

I guess it does depend on other dimensions. Hmm, say it was a medium sized tank (4-5’) and a Nano.

My nano and 4’ tank both have depths of 18 inch and sometimes I do think it’s a bit too tall for a nano.
