Think I also got some flatworms, a bit bad....got ris of most (or so I thought) that we got from the swap.

I came back from MACNA tonight, turned on my Actinics, to find this after only 4 days gone!

Anyone care to confirm my fears or set me straight on what these 2 things are? And if not Flatworms, best treatment....

I am not sure those are aefw. Aefw look like flat oval leeches. Flat like fish scales. Also they are opaque. They take on the color of what every they are on. Very difficult to see in the tank.

I'm not positive but I don't think those are flat worms. Is that on your glass?

Yes, they are..I had the brown ones before..but after much reading seen they can be translucent grey to brown..the reason I posted is the spider looking legs..thats why I am asking. Those are on my glass..maybe just pods? (i could only hope)

I also just found a white/translucent anemone looking thing in my overlows..and only my overflow ...real small... go figure..anyway, if anyone has a clue please fill me in. In voer 30 years of tanks I have never had this type of things occur to me.

In thinking about this I think those may be pods..I just never had them in these concentrations. It occuerd to me this is the first reef tank I have had with no fish in it. Usually a few rabbitfish (Orange spot and foxface) and wrasse are in my tanks and would devour these things LOL. Funny thing is the coral are all doing great. Still dont like the larger wispy thing..but again, anyone who can positively identify would be much appreciated.

Andy, I dont think those are AEFW. I wouls say some other type of algal eating Planaria. I had those WAY early in my tank before I had any acros in it. I believe they are harmless. they have a completely different shape than the AEFW. TRUST ME. I have been looking very closely at the AEFW this past week as I have been fragging, dipping and closely eyeballing every single acro in my tank.

as for the other, yes. pods. toss in a wrasse and it will be fat in a week.

the anemone, I have seen very translucent aptasia, and also have another rouge one in my tank. it is clear with little white balls on the ends of its tentacles. doesnt seem to be near as prolific as the aptasia.

Thanks Lindsey...

I actually found the pods this morning on google of the exact variety...shrimp type and I am very happy that they are not pests.. just came home to a swarm and went oh crap because of the battles we had last May with the flatworms from a swap...I got thos under control quickly but this was just an explosion...and then I thought more about it and the fact that I have a 220 gallon tank with no fish. I am going to transfer some back into it.

I held off because I did not want to move them and then be gone for 5 weeks across the world to Asia since they were happy and acclimated for 8 months in the FOWLR tank....I think a nice wrasse and a new Foxface are on the agenda for today (after a water change).
