Feather duster dying?

Hi all, new here and to saltwater. My feather duster has been fine, I noticed last night he was in the tube but nothing unusual but today, something weird is happening. Can anyone help me out?

Looks like diatom and sediment build up on the tube
Direct a little more water flow towards it- NOT at it and may help
Assure also its getting something to eat

How long have you had it? Id burry it in the sand. Just make sure you dont pinch the tube and obviously is right way up.
