My feather duster has been staying in its tube off and on for the last week. In the last two days it has been out and about and seemed happy. I came home from dinner tonight and the feather was out about in the tank and I just looked and there was something poking its head out of the tube that I would assume is the worm. Do worms expel their feathers. I tried to touch the feather and I could swear it acted like it was alive and retracting at my touch. What in the world??

Yup, they drop their crowns, hopefully it is nothing to worry about; however, I would do a full round of water tests, just to be sure...

Their crowns are semi-autonomous, so even when they are dropped, they still 'react' to their environment. Hence, when you touched it, it 'thought' there was food, or a thread.

Hey Guys,
The feather duster you can see in my avatar, well his top just came off after my snail seemed to be trying to munch on it. Will the top reproduce? Or will the stem grow a new top? I am curious as to what will happen?
