Feather duster or coco worm

So I am sitting here doing my nightly stare at my tank. And I noticed something I had seen before. Upon really close inspection it appears to be a feather duster. So I take a picture of it. And then I notice a pattern on the "stalk" I guess it's called. So I'm wondering if it is actually a feather duster or a coco worm. As of now it is WAY to small to show off any color. But maybe someone else has better insight on this than my newb self.

I agree with wysiwyg. I have them in my tank and do not harm anything but definitely not a coco

I have been wanting to by one, just have been putting it on the back burner so I was pretty happy when I saw it last night.

It is some type of hard tube worm but not a coco worm. As your tank ages you may get hundreds of these and they stay small (that one is actually kinda big!).

Exactly what Pkunk35 said. It is a type of hard tube worm (Spirorbidae) but much smaller than coco worms and they have white/clear feathers. I have tons of them in my tank, most are small but I have a few larger ones. They are very good to have as they are just filter feeders and will help keep the water clean.

"Feather Duster" is a common name usually associated with the soft tube worms.

Amazing how the populations can explode with these guys! In larger systems I've seen them just completely take over overflows and sumps. Truly a sign of a very healthy system!
