Feather duster tossed its head

No and I’m getting mixed internet answers some say it’s fine might be moving to a different area of the tank other say water might be issues and other says flow? So I really don’t know.

Occasionally they’ll leave their tube and setup residence elsewhere. Sometimes they end up out in the open and need a little coaxing into a rock or crevice where they can grow a new tube.
Tube is still there but the top end seemed to be closed/pulled in. The head has tucked itself under some rock

Mine lost its crown recently and after 4-5 days a new crown appeared, now its full grown. They can lose their crown when they have bad water quality, not enough food, etc. In general it doesn't mean that the feather duster will die but it gives you a good signal that something is wrong and if you don't correct that issue they could die.

My guess, food, for some reason we are messing up our education when making purchases on our specimen. What do they prefer as a food source ? Again doing research I’m a bit confused, no straight answers.

from what i've read they feed on phyto, detritus, food particles and i think pretty much everything.Although i wouldn't feed them reef roids or anything simillar because i don't think they will consume it.I personally don't feed my tank anything not even coral food and they are perfectly fine for over 6-7months.Although every tank is different so it's possible that they might not find the food source they want in your tank.

We don’t add anything either and this is the food we use for our damselfish

They filter feed- no need to target feed.
Leave tube where it is. Ive had this happen twice and within 3-4 weeks a new feather emerged.

well if you only have a damselfish then it's possible that it doesn't get any food particles or waste etc. Also it could be something wrong with your water quality.I think that anything over 20-25ppm could potentially stress them and make them lose their crown in search of a better place. Also it could something else too.You can't be really sure about them as they don't have any specific ways to tell what's wrong with them.

Only thing I can’t test for is phosphate right now however everything else is good
