I have a lobophyllia and about a week ago I noticed a strange protuberance at the base. After a lot of investigating I have it narrowed down to a feather duster...has anyone else experienced this and if so what was the final outcome? will it hurt my coral or should I just let it live? if it needs to go how do I eliminate it without damaging my lobo? Thanks folks

Assuming it's a feather duster, completely harmless and a welcome addition to your reef! I have them growing in and amongst my zoas and around many of my LPS :)
