Feather dusters all over zoa

I've never seen these before but I recently bought this zoa plug and there are tons of small feather dusters on it. Anyone dealt with these before? Are the invasive?

I guess I might just frag it off and remove them to be safe.

Would hydroids be stinging the zoa? The zoa doesn't seemed to be bothered by these other than compressed for space.

The hydroid family is actually HUGE and diverse. It's one odd the most ancient so there's a large amount of adaptations.
So the ones we generally think of may sting. May. I haven't done any thing to hydroids save putty ever. And haven't really had probs yet. I figure I've had a dozen kinds or more.

I'll try to find the one species I'm thinking of.

small feather dusters nothing to worry about, you can brush them off with a toothbrush or leave them be. They wont harm the zoanthid

Cool thats what I thought I was just surprised at how dense they were on the zoa plug. Wasnt sure if it was some kind of crazy colonial feather duster that will smother out all of my corals lol.

I had this same question - they definitely agitate my zoas in my plugs.
Thinking about pulling them with tweezers maybe

I'd definitely remove them with tweezers and keep a eye on them. If they come back remove again and try a little super glue on them. I wouldn't want them competing with my zoa.
