So we bought some new mushrooms and a rock of zoas today and they both have feather dusters on them. We kinda like the feather dusters and don't really want to lose them. Right now both rocks are sitting in our QT and we were planning on dipping them tomorrow before we add them to our DT. Will dipping the rocks kill the feather dusters? if so will a night in QT bring out any of the bad hitch hikers so we can remove them before adding to our DT? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Im still new to reefing but some dips from what I read will kill them.. I have a few growing in my tank that came with some nuclear green zoas that we got from ebay

Yeah that's what we're afraid of. We want a feather duster and having it as a free hitch hiker is awesome since we can't find them for less than around $20. We use Seachem coral dip and don't really want to lose them but I guess it's a small price to pay to not have to spend more than that to get rid of a bad hitchiker.

On the mushroom rock you can pop off the mushrooms and make sure there isn't anything hidden underneath. The other rock is probably fine as well. You could try taking off the feather duster as well by cutting under the rock. It'd depend how it attached itself to the rock if it could be easily removed.

Posting this on here for anyone else who might find it later on. you do not want those featherdusters. They look cute, but they will be everywhere in the space of a month after you put them in your tank. They are not like the featherdusters you would buy for $20. They cover everything, and particularly like getting into your zoas. IMO they are a pest and should be gotten rid of if possible.
