Ok well in just got a featherduster from aquatics depot.com. when we got him he was out of his tube. He seemed to start making a new tube in the tank over the last 2 days. We'll today was waterchange day and I think it was too much stress for him and he shed his crown.
Do you think he has any chance of survival or should I pull him out now?

Shedding a crown means he isnt happy but isnt a death sentence. Make sure water parameters are good and they he is left in peace to rebuild his tube

Well like I said just did a water change but 1.025 s
0 nitrate
Ph 8.2
0 amonia
Nitrate was through the roof
8 alkalinity
Just got a brs 5 stage rodi for this change did 15 gal in a 50 gal system.

How long has this tank been running and what else is living in the tank? More water changes may be needed to help nitrates. Maybe 25 gal if possible

About 3 months I have 2 small cardinals and a small bleeny....some corals and cuc

If he grows a new crown and it's smaller than the previous one, then it's probable that he's starving and will eventually perish. This sometimes takes multiple molts, but a smaller crown is not good and is a sign that you need to increase the food type / particle size that that particular feather duster likes...

It's also possible that he was not getting enough food at the distributor and/or LFS and will do better in your tank.

But hopefully it was just the stress of shipping and/or maybe just bad timing that he lost his crown when he did, and will soon grow a full crown again.

EDIT: Sorry to post to a year old thread. Found it via a search for feather duster and didn't notice the post dates...
