Featherdusters!!!

HOLY FEATHERDUSTERS!! in the past several months they have been popping up all over my tank... i linked a iphone pic of my favia where theres nearly a dozen around it! they are popping up all over my tank. My gravity filter that goes to the sump is about 12 inches high of water and there must be nearly 50 in there!!

I'm assuming a predator of feather dusters has since left my tank.. i had a pygmy angel that jumped ship and i found him dried on the ground about 6 months ago(maybe he was the one keeping population in control??) but obviously nothing is stopping them in their path!!!

anyone else experience this??? i figure its no worries they cant do anything and they are just filter feeders but figure i'd throw it out there and share it with yall... Thanks!

It's hard to tell from the pic, but they might be colonial hydroids. You could try to smother them with epoxy or kalk paste.

i really don't mind them....unless i heard that they can be any threat to corals

I was researching colonial hydroids and dont like what im reading... but i don't see the corals suffering at all from them being near...

I get feather dusters popping up randomly as well. I like them since they are a filter feeder. Some of them have pretty nice color if you look close enough.

After seeing the pic without the blue, they don't look colonial hydroids. I wouldn't worry about the feather dusters. I think they add to the diversity of the tank.
