New to Duncan Corals and fed them reefroids as recommended by LFS - one head was open when I fed it, and it closed up after feeding it.

Well, it's been over 12 hours now, and its still closed.

Is this the normal behavior after feeding these guys?

Ps take it slow with reef roids. They can spike phosphate like crazy. I usually recommend cleaning out the mechanical filter afterwards is possible.

never tried reef roids...i feed LRS reef frenzy nano to the fish and lps...dissolve a small chunk in a 1 oz cup of tank water and squirt a small piece per head with a long feeding eyedropper...the head will close up and the area directly below it will blow up like a balloon as it digests the food but the thing opens back up to normal an hour or 2 later...that being said duncans can close up for other reasons when newly introduced...i used to call mine "Grumpy" as it seemed to be pi$$3d off most of the time... it would open in the morning then close up midday which i interpreted as it getting too much light...lowered light intensity and its responded favorably...also seemed to close up just before it sprouts another head but not so much now that it has a couple heads

Perhaps, the feed gave it some sort of indigestion.....I find it very strange and wished I knew why it's closed up like it is.

I agree with snorker to give it more meaty foods, like reef frenzy or mysis.

But reef roids won't bother it at all. I think it might be something else.

Maybe post more details about your tank, parameters, age, maybe some pics, and people can try to help.

I have never fed any of my corals anything! This Duncan grew from a single head (about 14 months).
