There is a conversation about packages being late that are sent by UPS. Well as expected, Fedex is no exception during these times. I ordered some corals over the weekend and they were shipped yesterday. I woke up expecting my package to be delivered today, but it never left Shreveport, LA this morning to its destination that is 2 hrs away. I’m sure they are being overwhelmed right now by the amount of orders. I just hope my livestock can make it one more night if the package is delivered tomorrow instead. Just letting y’all know in case you have ordered or will order livestock in the future that your packages may be delivered late.

I made two orders from Cherry Corals on different day's last week. Both came UPS and both were at my door at 9:30 AM. I guess I was lucky.

I have a package coming from Aqua SD this week, and I anticipate delays.

My wife is an administrator at a local FedEx hub in Whitehall, OH, and she has been picking up overtime to help with the overwhelming number of packages being handled. In her words, they are operating to handle many, many more packages than what they do during the Christmas holiday season while having only a normal amount of staff. They keep having drivers quit, even during the current state of the economy, because they are incredibly overwhelmed.

If anyone is ordering livestock online, I strongly suggest that you prepare for delays.

Usually when Company's can't keep employees is because they are not paying well enough.

Yeah I would suggest people think twice before ordering livestock.

This is the WORSE time to order any live stock. Even most vendors are stating that they have ZERO control over late shipments and some are even not going to deal with you if the shipment doesn't arrive on time. Then you are stuck dealing with the delivery company and praying that you can get your money back in the instance your live stock dies because of a late shipment.

Ask me anyone ordering live stock during this pandemic is just asking to waste their money.

I agree with this.

However, I have seen photos of delivery trucks being overstuffed, and, for hourly employees making those deliveries, being paid more may not be enough. FedEx has increased pay by $2/hour for many of its employees, but the contractors that own the delivery lines and pay their employees what they decide (not FedEx) are losing drivers.

The shipping docks are filled with trailers just waiting to be unpacked and sorted for delivery, but the personnel just can't do it quickly enough.

Based on my experience, FedEx always deliver my packages day after the delivery date, 90% of the time. With UPS, it happened once in a while but not with overnight shipping especially if it is a live stock.

Well duh, every deliverly service has posted there are late deliveries due to the pandemic...

I have fish that are due to arrive today. Oh shoot... Now I need to track the package.
I tracked it...It says it is out for delivery as scheduled. It came from California and I'm the state next door.

They also have exercised the suspension of " Guaranteed arrival" during this busy time for them.

IF IT COMFORTS ANYONE (especially with AquaSD orders), 2 weeks ago FedEx pulled the mechanical issue stunt on me and promised to follow up and call me back which they did not. My coral shipment sat in chilly Indiana (5 hr drive for me ) 31 hours before it moved on for delivery the Following day.
To my shock, heat packs were still warm and the corals were partially open and all made it 100%.. As long as the shipment was packed well and with most of us out of the winter temperatures . . . . you should be OK. FINGERS CROSSED

My packages usually fly into Memphis, get driven to Little Rock, and then south to where I live. But Arkansas got hammered by the storms and almost all of the southern part of the state is without power and trees are down everywhere.

Good point, reality is that a well package shipment can survive a day delay in many instances. Optimal, no but it can and does happen. I had a fish shipped UPS a few years ago who was probably in the box for 48+ hours no issues. Hard pressed to believe that initial shipments from source are any quicker than 48 hours.

Update

I kept refreshing the Fedex app this morning hoping they just didn’t update the status but it didn’t update (therefore this post) . Well I just checked and the package arrived at my local sorting facility at 9:29 was in the truck at 9:30 and was delivered at 9:59. Sure enough there was a package at my back door with the “side up” down lol. My packages are out for delivery by 7am at the latest so I had lost all hopes. But my package arrived....barely

i am expecting deliveries. Dry goods from Marine Depot; frozen from BSD. they will arrive when they do. I hope all your delivery dreams come true. So, I had a Christmas wish that I had not used yet. waste not want not, lol
