How long can a coral stay alive in a delayed package? Was supposed to receive mine today at noon but the airplane came “late”. They told me it will get here tomorrow before noon. Have any of you experience this? If so we’re the corals alive or dead? It’s 2 hammer head and 1 torch :(. (By fedex)

It depends on many factors, but that's not good.

Did you buy it from an online place? Usually they would cover this type of thing if it's DOA.

It may be okay! Some corals can last quite some time. Yeah I should warn everyone. I’m in delivery business. So are my buddies for various other companies one is FedEx. Be prepared for late and delayed shipments. Black Friday belongs to the internet and Amazon now. The reason they started a lot of these sales sooner was for social distancing in store and to relieve strain on delivery.

They are barely ready for it and Covid was the big kicker.

It was always going this way. Covid just kinda sealed the deal on the death of a mall.

FedEx is doing deliveries in Budget Vans and Amazon is buying FedEx style trucks. Lol. What happened? Covid everything’s delivered. So trust me do not count on overnight right now especially with Black Friday hurdling towards us. Not saying your packages will be delayed but nobody was ready for it. And your odds are high right now. Then they would of been a few years ago.

If its a solid seller you should be fine.

There was just a story on Instagram about a Holy grail torch that was in the box for 4 days and was still ok.

Its all about how the seller packaged them.

The seller is known and we never had a problem. We even told him about it and we’re surprised. The airport was the one that did not put the package in the plane.

This time of year is typically bad for buying livestock and corals. Shipping delay s are at their peak this time of year & hopefully seller has a "DOA arrival" policy.

Or the plane broke down. Lol never trust what they say they’ll lie. Airlines will delay a flight over a broken bathroom when it’s a small engine issue. Hahahahah. Sounds better. It’ll get their tho. 100%. If it was paid as Overnight. Then it’s comming tommorrow. They usually got separate guys for that.

Those Corals are pretty hardy! As long as he packed them good. I’d acclimate for a good while. Measure temp in bag.

I used to sell high end computers. This time of year I been scared a few times with 4-7 grand in the Mail. I had priority take 2 weeks. Trust me it’s gonna be much worst this year. I have almost had to reimburse buyers and then all of a sudden it shows up. Even after the holidays. Returns suck!

Oh yes ladies and Gentlemen this year is going to be an extra fun year thanks to Covid.

Said to much. But yeah I think you’ll be okay. I doubt the shipper intended for an issue. But your not going to be the only one this year with a delayed package. Their will be many as things ramp up. Nintendo couldn’t even get the switch into the USA. The boats from China to Long Beach are delayed cuz of this crap.

I told my mom and I’ll tell you guys! I work for a water delivery company. Residential exploded on my route as businesses dwindled. I watched places go under first hand. My buddy is FedEx Ground, I work right next to Amazon hub. Lol. Plus we argue who’s gonna park truck in front of house first.

If your doing Holiday shopping. Better do it sooner than later. Amazon won’t hold on the 2 day shipping for a lot of items.

It’s 2 hammer heads and a torch. Not sure the exact name tho I’ll check on that
I noticed you live in Florida, that's probably going to increase your odds a good bit.

As mentioned, the main issue is the temperature. If it was mid summer then your odds would be lower, or if you were in Minnesota etc. But right now it's pretty good temps in Florida.

Good chance they make it.

If it's packed well it shouldn't be an issue. Most places will include a heating or cooling pad depending on the projected weather in your area. I've ordered corals online twice, and each time fedex was late delivering it. One was 12 hours late, the other was a day late. Both times the corals were perfectly fine.

Ive had his happen twice with no losses. Its all in how well packed the corals are.

Update: the hammers came dead. The bags broke on the way here so water was all over the box. Torch was still alive but 3 days later it died. Very sad situation especially as I saw the torch dying slowly everyday.

We have been shipping perishables with Fed Ex for the past 9 years. The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are always difficult and like Ksull said Covid has made it 10x worse. We have had to make adjustments like shipping 3 day Select instead of ground in some instances. We are also adding extra dry ice to every box anticipating a 1-2 day delay. Fed Ex even adjusted their transit map to reflect an additional day of transit to certain parts of the country because of the volume. I was told our local hub typically sorts 40,000 packages a day during the Fall and they are already exceeding 100,000 inbound a day. It's nuts......
