I see threads about shipping companies screwing up every once in a while.
It's almost always a weather related delay or equipment breakdown ( jet don't fly).
Stuff that can not be predicted at all.
Then usually several others will jump in and complain about how terrible they were treated and how much money they lost, etc.
Yesterday it looked like I was going to be another victim of a shipping delay.
I was expecting a package from The Coral Dudes ( Addictive Aquaculture ).
I got up around 6am pacific time and logged into FedEx tracking and noticed it said my package was in Memphis at 5:20 am. I though oh oh. This isn't going to be good. It should be in Seattle around this time.
So I waited a hour or so to see if there were any updates. There were none so I called FedEx to try and see if there was a glitch in the tracking system.
The person I spoke with informed me there was a problem with the jet and all the packages ( not just mine) were delayed.
I explained ( while being very polite ) that there was a pretty good chance that a couple hundred dollars worth of coral was going to die if it wasn't delivered inside the usual 24 hours we have come to expect.
I must have had someone that knew about the hobby or cared for anything live, because she said she would see if anything could be done. Then she asked if I could accept a late delivery. Of course.
I really didn't expect anything, especially after not hearing from anybody all day.
So imagine my surprise last night about 8:30 when there was a knock on my door and there was this gentleman holding a small insulated shipping box. No FedEx truck. It looked like a personal car.
Someone in Memphis had put a Same Day shipping airbill on my package and made sure I got it.
So from Memphis at 10am my time to 8:30 last night in Olympia Washington.
So, that was above and beyond normal customer service.
