Should I wear gloves when I feed zoa coral? Is the water toxic soon as I put them in my tank?

ok so firstly they only release the poison when stressed so as long as you are not rubbing against them, boiling the rock or fragging them you shouldn't need to worry.
secondly its only palythoas that releases the toxin but its hard to tell them from zoanthids with certainty.

It is always recommended to wear gloves when you're working in the aquarium. You never know what's going to stick you or how your body will react to it.

With that being said, the water is not toxic as soon as you put them in. They will only release the toxin under stressful situations. Wear gloves and eye protection when you handle them out of water. If you accidentally squeeze one and it gets in your eye, it's real bad news.

Be safe regardless!

I’ve never worn gloves when putting my hands in the tank. Although wearing them is better than not just because it won’t affect skimmer and skin oils don’t get in tank. Toxins from zoas only leach out when injured
