I don't like the fact my sump floods when I turn off all my pumps. Filter sock garbage and other debris in the sump go all over and spread around. I also have a Refugium in my sump that floods every time where my Chaeto could just float away. Wondering if this is just the way it is or if there's a way to hold the water in DT and rear sump, while I feed or do a water change. Would just like to have this option. Seems when I close the overflow valve, it still floods.

Consider draining some water and cutting pipe and installing check valves.
an effective option is to add an elbow to overflow. When pump shuts off..... the drainage will stop once level goes below elbow and you won’t have as much water in the sump
