So I have an Icecap battery back up, and an icecap gyre 3k all plugged into an apex EL. My tank is pretty new, trying to keep nutes down and since I only have 4 fish in a 120, I don’t want to keep broadcast feeding my mysis

So far as I can figure out, I can’t make the feed mode work from the apex unless I manually unplug the gyre from the battery back up. Otherwise when apex cuts power to the outlet, battery back up picks up and it keeps pumping. Problem is I can be a little bit of a forgetful dude, and I’m worried eventually I’m going to forget to plug it back in. Plus to be real that’s a real PITA to do every time I want to feed.

Is there a workaround to this? I’m wondering if anyone has had this problem or advice. I’d love to be able to target feed stuff more conveniently. Additionally, anyone got a ballpark on how many hours that BB is gonna give my gyre in the event of a power outage?
-thanks

Are you using the Apex feeder and feed mode in conjunction? Or are you just activating feed mode when you go to feed the tank?

No, no feeder. Just trying to spot feed mysis with a turkey baster. So I just activate feed mode from the apex screen but then the back-up keeps the gyre running

You might have to just use the manual feed mode on the gyre then unless you can hook the apex to the battery backup instead of hooking the gyres to it.
