Hello everyone. As you all know Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I will be gone from wednesday morning, all the way until mid sunday. If I feed my fish wednesday morning, will they be able to eat algae and other things in the tank to last them until sunday, or should I purchase a food block that you set in your tank? Thank you!

I leave for over a week at a time every year for vacation without feeding or anyone even touching anything to do with the tank. Your fish will be fine as long as they are healthy to begin with. I can't speak for fish that need lots of feedings like Anthias. I have Clowns, Tang, Blenny, Goby, Gramma, Cardinal.

I have also left my tank for a little over a week with no issues. My inhabitants of the tank were a mandarin, pair of clowns, royal dottyback, and lemon peel angel. However, my seahorses are a different story. I have someone feed the seahorses at least every other day when I go away and stock the tank with plenty of amphipods ahead of time.

Okay awesome! I figured they would be okay but wanted to hear some feedback. I have a clownfish and a blue/green Chromis! Thank you for all your input :)

What size tank?
How long has it been set up?
What fish?

For my tanks and fish I have I wouldn't worry, but would like more info for yours before commenting.

IMHO IME if you have to ask "should I feed the fish" almost always the answer is no.

I have left my tanks for up to two weeks when out of town and never lost a fish.

Of course with sump setups you to have to worry about evaporation, drains being clogged and so on. What I did some times was just turn off the pump.

small tank and realitively new. Can you get someone to drop a few pellets or flakes in once or twice? Best bet. But probably they will be ok.
stay away from the long drop in feeders. any cleanuo crew will make fast work anyway.
