Do any of you feed your refugium? I have a couple surge tanks with rocks and macro algae in them. They also have a lot of amphipods and I recently added some mini brittles from a fellow reefer. I've never added food to the refugium directly, but after adding the mini stars I decided to start adding some food, couple pinches of pellets, once a week. I have noticed an increase in amphipods for sure but it's just anecdotal.

The only reason I feed my fuge is because of the crab that is in there. Otherwise I just assume that the little critters will eat the detritus and algae.

I don’t feed it anything. I do add cheatogro every few weeks. And rarely when I dose phyto I give some to fuge for pods. But generally just rely on what it catches from the tank.

I actually have 2 refugium/surge tanks a couple feet over that the display tank built into the wall. I wonder if it gets less detritus since the water is pumped up rather than from an overflow? It did have a lot of amphipods before I started feeding the fuge though. I was just wondering what others were doing.
