Feeding Acan's

I try to target feed mine at least 1x-2x per week with some meaty foods like mysis or brine. I also feed some pellets every now and then to mix it up a bit.

How do you get the feed down to them? I just got 2 acans and a chalice frag. They are at the bottom of the tank (~20 inches of water).

Thanks.

Your local fish store should carry pipetts like these. Reef Aquarium Coral & Invertebrate Care: Disposable Pipettes for Target Feeding. A turkey baster works as well. Feed your coral last or your fish may try to steal from them, also it'll give them time to detect food in the water and put their feeder tentacles out. Also, waiting till after the lights are out is a good practice because thats usually when the tentacles naturally come out.

Mine take mysis pretty eagerly. When the actinics come on I use a pippette and let some of the sweet shrimp juice come out a little to encourage their feeders to come out.

I will try pellets too now!

I feed mine the Fauna marin LPS pellets, I also grind it up and target my chalices. I made a great target feeder and don't ever have to get wet when I target feed.

What I used was an old test syringe, some hard plastic tubing from petsmat and normal air hose to connect it all together. Works great for smaller particle foods.
